It was rather wonderful to visit this deserted slate mill, far up a track in a rarely visited area of Wales. I really wanted to find this mill so I could go back in better light. I think this shot is quite nice though, the light under the threatening dark clouds.

Last light over Llyn Dinas, near Bedgellert and the start of three days visiting some of the most exciting landscape photography locations in Snowdonia. I didn’t even make the first one, this image was plan-B as the sunset faster than I could get up my hill!

It was a wonderful surprise to discover a tiny fishing community still in existence in Holywell, North Wales. I imagined these two boats to be taking a long, peaceful retirement from duty after a hard working life.

I very nearly didn’t come back from taking these photographs. It was getting dark, it was very windy but most alarmingly, the raging sea had come in quite a way past the rock island I was stood on. A hasty rock climb saved the day.

These shots were taken on a rushed evening visit to Hell’s Mouth on the Lleyn Peninsula, just as the last of our summer barbeques were being lit for dinner back at our campsite. With a sunset like this though, I was very late home for the barbeque, with very wet feet…

A cafe? You can no longer call this a cafe. The new summit station on Snowdon is wonderful. It’s not open yet mind you, but with squinted eyes you can just about steal a view of the interior – it’s all Welsh slate, oak and stainless steel. Here’s to great architecture! More information here
